G.I. Joe: Retaliation

One Line Review:

It’s practically Call Of Duty Modern Warfare: the movie, and i dont like COD.

Cast:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Channing Tatum
Jonathan Pryce
Adrianne Palicki
Ray Park
Byung-Hun Lee
Bruce Willis

Synopsis:

When a warlord is bent on taking over the world, it’s up to the Joe’s to stop him.
Overview:

This is a pretty straight forward movie. It promises action and explosions and that’s all you get. For some this may be a good thing, for others we want a tad more. The cast do a great job in all the action sequences and stunts, but can’t act for toffee, however i wasn’t expecting Oscar nomination performances. Now, the film as a whole is not unwatchable, the saving graces of this film, are within two of its ensemble characters: Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes, aka the two ninja/samurai characters. The scenes that center around them are the best in the film, especially the scene where they fight on the side of a mountain.
The story is very back to basics ‘one man trying to take over the world’ and it all works fine, especially loved the scene in which a villian, disguised as Jonathan Pryce’s U.S President, tricks other world leaders with their nuclear devices.
So yea, it wasn’t as awful as i had anticipated, but still not that good.

Recommend: if you like over the top action movies, sure. Everyone else avoid.
Overall: 5/10
