Gangster Squad

Gangster Squad

One Line Review:

L.A Noire the movie, except more shooting and less picking stuff up.

Josh Brolin
Emma Stone
Ryan Gosling
Giovanni Ribsi
Sean Penn

Great cast, mostly. I don’t know what it is, but i dont like Ryan Goslin. He just doesn’t sound like an actor. He has a very winey voice and it definitely didn’t suit the role he had in this film. Other than that great all around. A mention for Giovanni Ribsi who is great and leads the way for comedic relief.

When a gangster thinks he owns the city, it’s time for the city to take it back.

Great film.
Perfect setting, love the 40’s, love all the cars, the clothes, the music, everything.
A great story, even if it was a little predictable at times.
Perfect balance of comedy and action.

I know the story is adapted from a true story, but I would have liked to have seen Emma Stone utilised a little more. She does a little in the movie and I feel she should have done more. Don’t take this as slander against her, she’s great; a fine actress, hot as they come (a little classy side boob for the gentlemen near the beginning), i just wanted more.

I went into this film thinking it was going to be a full down to earth drama kind of film, instead its an action comedy that, so far is the best film I’ve seen all year, which admittedly isn’t very long. No spoilers, but there is a scene early on where Brolin recruits his team, and i love recruitment montages like that, The Ocean’s films, love it.

Recommend: Definitely, go see this movie.
Overall: 8/10
