One Line Review:
One of the weirdest films I’ve ever watched and yet awesome.
Where do I start, well first off Edward Norton, in a milder role than usual, but still really good. Bruce Willis, again in a milder role than he usually plays, but again no less awesome. Did I mention BILL (F*****G) MURRAY is in this and is on usual top comedic form. First time players Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman in the two lead roles are just as good as their adult cast members. Other notable mention to Jason Schwartzman as Cousin Ben.
There is tons to love in this movie. Filled to the brim with comedy moments, from an impossible treehouse, to the dangers of left handed scissors, to anything Bill Murray says or does. Laughter is definitely not lacking. The story is just lovely. The story of rebellious young love and the reactions of the people around it. Admittedly there is a part around the middle where the two young leads are together in the woods and it drops slightly due to the masses of dialog, but a quirky line or funny part is only a couple of minutes away. The second half has slightly less charm but is just as entertaining.
